In March 2020 I wrote an article titled Is the Coronavirus as Deadly as They Say? in which I argued that “current estimates about the COVID-19 fatality rate may be too high by orders of magnitude.” I wrote:
If it’s true that the novel coronavirus would kill millions without shelter-in-place orders and quarantines, then the extraordinary measures being carried out in cities and states around the country are surely justified. But there’s little evidence to confirm that premise—and projections of the death toll could plausibly be orders of magnitude too high.
Fear of COVID-19 is based on its high estimated case fatality rate — 2% to 4% of people with confirmed COVID-19 have died, according to the World Health Organization and others. So if 100 million Americans ultimately get the disease, 2 million to 4 million could die. We believe that estimate is deeply flawed…
If our surmise of six million cases is accurate, that’s a mortality rate of 0.01%, assuming a two week lag between infection and death. This is one-tenth of the flu mortality rate of 0.1%. Such a low death rate would be cause for optimism.
I wrote about “the limited scale of the epidemic,” and said that “a 20,000- or 40,000-death epidemic is a far less severe problem than one that kills two million.”
Well guess what folks! I hope you’re sitting down. I have bombshell news to share with you! It turns out that novel coronavirus, the one I predicted would have one-tenth of the flu mortality rate and would cause a limited epidemic… CAME FROM A LAB!
In October 2020, I came up with a “plan” to achieve herd immunity in 3-6 months via the mass infection of 250 million, unvaccinated, “not vulnerable” Americans with that novel coronavirus. I wrote:
The most compassionate approach that balances the risks and benefits of reaching herd immunity, is to allow those who are at minimal risk of death to live their lives normally to build up immunity to the virus through natural infection, while better protecting those who are at highest risk.
Well, you know what? I wanted hundreds of millions of unvaccinated Americans to gain “natural infection” from a virus that… CAME FROM A LAB!
In March 2021, I stressed “we should not be particularly concerned about the variants.” It just so happens the virus I told you not to be particularly concerned about… CAME FROM A LAB!
In April 2021, I said that “the central problem right now I think is the fear that people still feel about COVID.” Well, there’s monumental news about this virus I told you not to fear. IT CAME FROM A LAB!
In September 2021, I said:
The emergency phase of the disease is over. Now, we need to work very hard to undo the sense of emergency. We should be treating covid as one of 200 diseases that affect people.
Now look at the earth-shattering news. The virus I said that we should treat as just one of 200 diseases… CAME FROM A LAB!
It’s impossible to overstate the significance of this. It’s like finding your bank account was short ten cents and then learning someone stole it from you. It’s like watching an elevator close in front of you, and then finding out the person inside didn’t even try to hit the “open door” button. It’s like finding a gum wrapper on your lawn and then learning someone carelessly dropped it there. It’s like finding a pebble in your shoe and later discovering someone placed it there on purpose.
SARS-CoV-2, the virus I repeatedly told you not to worry about and worked to infect you with… CAME FROM A LAB! If that’s not a bombshell, I don’t know what is.
